Evolving in my journey as a creator

As you may have read in my biography, I have a background in Fine Arts with a specialization in Graphic Arts and Design. For many years, I immersed myself in traditional drawing and printmaking techniques. I’ve always had a deep love for processes like engraving, aquatint on metal plates, linocut, woodcut, collagraph, and more. These methods not only fueled my creativity but also connected me to the rich history of printmaking.

However, living in a small flat has presented some challenges. Without the space for a full workshop equipped with presses and specialized materials, I’ve adapted my practice to embrace more experimental techniques. This shift hasn’t just been about logistics—it’s also aligned with my growing mindfulness of ecological concerns. Traditional printmaking often involves chemicals and materials that can be harmful to the environment, and I’ve been eager to reduce my ecological footprint while continuing to create meaningful art.

Now, my focus has shifted to four main techniques that you might have seen in my portfolio. They are all Monotypes inspired by Nature. These one-of-a-kind prints capture the delicate beauty of organic forms. I have:

Eco Printing on Paper and Fabric: A sustainable process using natural dyes and plant materials to create intricate designs.

Watercolor Monotypes: Combining the fluidity of watercolor with the unique textures of printmaking.

Gelli Printing: A versatile and eco-friendly method for producing vibrant, layered artworks.

Recently, I’ve even explored handmade papermaking, recycling waste paper at home to create beautiful, textured sheets. This handmade paper provides a perfect base for gelli printing, adding another layer of sustainability and uniqueness to my work.

This journey of adapting my practice has not only kept my creativity alive but has also deepened my connection to nature and sustainability.

Evolucionando en mi trayectoria artística

Como quizá hayas leído en mi biografía, tengo formación en Bellas Artes con una especialización en Artes Gráficas y Diseño. Durante muchos años, me dediqué al dibujo y a técnicas de grabado tradicionales. Siempre he sentido un profundo amor por procesos como la ilustración, el grabado (el aguatinta sobre placas de metal, el linograbado, la xilografía, el colagraf), y más. Estas técnicas no sólo alimentaron mi creatividad, sino que también me conectaron con la rica historia del grabado.

Sin embargo, vivir en un piso pequeño ha supuesto algunos desafíos. Sin el espacio necesario para un taller completo con prensas y materiales especializados, he adaptado mi práctica para abrazar técnicas más experimentales. Este cambio no ha sido solo por cuestiones logísticas, sino que también está alineado con mi creciente conciencia ecológica. El grabado tradicional a menudo implica el uso de productos químicos y materiales perjudiciales para el medio ambiente, y me he esforzado por reducir mi impacto ecológico mientras sigo creando arte significativo.

Ahora, mi enfoque se centra en cuatro técnicas principales que quizá hayas visto en mi portafolio, monotipos inspirados en la naturaleza. Estas impresiones únicas capturan la delicada belleza de las formas orgánicas. Tengo:

Eco-Printing en papel y tela: un proceso sostenible que utiliza tintes naturales y materiales vegetales para crear diseños intrincados.

Monotipos en acuarela: combinando la fluidez de la acuarela con las texturas únicas del grabado.

Impresión con gelli plate: un método versátil y ecológico para crear obras vibrantes y en capas.

Recientemente, también he explorado la creación de papel hecho a mano, reciclando papel usado en casa para producir hojas hermosas y texturizadas. Este papel artesanal es una base perfecta para la impresión con gelli plate, añadiendo otra capa de sostenibilidad y singularidad a mi trabajo.

Este viaje de adaptación en mi práctica no solo ha mantenido viva mi creatividad, sino que también ha profundizado mi conexión con la naturaleza y la sostenibilidad.
